1. Scope and contact
This policy covers MakeWorlds Scanner, provided by Wuhan Jumu Technology Co., Ltd., based in Jianghan District, Wuhan, Hubei, China. It covers space scanning, local storage, computer transfers and system sharing across operating systems. Available sensors, permission names and file management interfaces may differ between devices; the purposes and privacy principles below remain the same.
The app is free and requires no account or sign-in. It has no payments, advertising, usage analytics or tracking. Scan content is processed and stored on your device. The app does not automatically upload scan content, device information or usage records to us, and does not use our servers to store or relay scans. Capture statistics inside a scan describe that scan; they are not usage analytics sent to us.
For privacy requests or our full postal address, contact sales@jumu.xyz. Website visits and email enquiries are covered by the website Privacy Notice; this policy describes the app itself.
2. Information processed locally
The app accesses, uses or stores the following information on your device to perform the functions you select. Photographs and space content may contain personal information even when nothing is uploaded. Respect the privacy of people you photograph and avoid scanning or sharing unrelated personal or sensitive information.
| Information | Purpose and occasion | Storage and retention |
|---|---|---|
| Space photographs, depth, relative camera positions and poses | Captured when you start scanning, to record the space's appearance and geometry. | In scan files on your device until you delete them. |
| Capture settings and records | Exposure, ISO, light estimates, device model, operating system and app versions, scan time and time zone, duration, time in thermal states and retained frame counts, to describe capture conditions and scan content. | With the scan file on your device until you delete it. |
| App settings and tip status | To remember picture quality, unscanned-area markers, haptics, path display, scan-list view and whether tips have been read. | On your device for later use; removed when app data or app-specific storage is cleared. |
| Sent scan digests and arrival times | After a computer transfer, to mark the corresponding scan as “Sent”. | On your device; removed when app data or app-specific storage is cleared. |
| Computer connection codes, addresses and authentication information | During a transfer, to identify and authenticate your target computer and establish the connection. | Used for that connection only. Computer addresses, names, certificates and codes are not persistently stored. The image used to read a code is not saved. |
Relative camera positions and poses describe the scan's coordinate system, not geographical location such as GPS. The app does not read geographical location or record audio. Scan files contain no sound, device identifiers or device names.
3. Device capabilities and permissions
| Capability or permission | Purpose and trigger | Effect of refusal or withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph a space when you start scanning, or read a code when you connect to a computer. | Camera-based scanning or code reading is unavailable; you can still view saved scans. |
| Depth sensors and spatial sensing | During scanning, to obtain depth and camera poses through supported LiDAR or system depth and spatial capabilities. | Available scanning capabilities depend on device support and relevant system authorisations. |
| Local network | To connect and transfer files only when you choose to send a scan to your own computer. | The corresponding computer transfer is unavailable; local scanning and viewing remain available. |
| System file access and sharing | To use system file or sharing interfaces when you choose to export, share or manage scans through the system. | The corresponding export, sharing or file operation is restricted; this does not require access to unrelated files. |
Where the operating system requires authorisation, the app requests it when the relevant function needs it. Unrelated permissions are not a condition for using other functions. You can manage or withdraw permissions in your device's system settings; names and paths vary by operating system. System permission grants do not replace any notice or consent required by applicable data protection law.
4. Computer transfers, sharing and third-party processing
The app does not sell personal information or use advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs to provide app data to third parties. System frameworks or local processing components do not change the purposes described above. Transfers and sharing you select, and device backups, work as follows:
| Occasion and recipient | Information and purpose | Method and limits |
|---|---|---|
| MakeWorlds Studio on your own computer | The complete scan you select, including photographs, depth and metadata, for further processing. | You initiate the transfer. The connection is encrypted and authenticated using the code on that computer. The app's computer transfer accepts only private or local network addresses and does not use our cloud as a relay. |
| An app, service or recipient you select through system sharing or file export | The complete scan you select, to perform your chosen sharing or export operation. | You select the destination. Its privacy policy and settings govern storage, uploads and subsequent use after it receives the file. |
| An operating system or computer backup service you enable | System backups may include scan files and app data for backup and restoration. | Whether data is backed up, where and for how long it is stored, and whether it is uploaded to a cloud depend on the system and your backup settings. Manage these in the relevant service. |
We do not receive scan files through these app functions. System sharing and backups may take files off your device; local processing does not mean that files can never reach another recipient. Check external services' recipients, storage locations and privacy rules before choosing them.
5. Storage, deletion and security
Scans are stored on your device, with no cloud retention period set by us. You can delete scans in the app, or manage accessible files through system file interfaces where available. App-specific data is cleared through the operating system's uninstall or clear-app-data mechanisms. Copies exported to shared folders, computers, other apps or backups are not automatically deleted when you delete a local scan or uninstall the app; manage those copies separately.
Processing is limited to the functions described above. Computer transfers within the app use encryption and destination authentication. Protection of files on your device also depends on system access controls, your device lock and the storage you choose. Protect your device and backups, and share scans only with recipients you trust.
6. Your rights and feedback
You can view, share and delete scans on your device and manage system permissions and backup settings. No account is required, so stopping use does not require account deletion. We do not hold scan content automatically uploaded by the app and cannot access or delete copies held on your device, computer or by another recipient for you.
You may contact us to exercise applicable rights, including access, copies, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or withdrawal of consent, or to raise a complaint. We request only information needed to verify and handle your request. We review and respond within fifteen working days, explaining any lawful reason a request cannot be fulfilled. Where a shorter legal deadline applies, we follow it. Where EU/UK GDPR applies, its one-month initial deadline also applies; any lawful extension will be explained within that initial period. You may complain to your competent authority.
7. Children
The app is not specifically directed at children. Minors should use it with a parent or guardian's guidance and obtain their consent where required by applicable law. A guardian can help manage what is scanned, recipients, file deletion and system backups.
We do not create children's accounts or collect children's profiles through the app. A guardian who believes we actually hold a child's personal information without appropriate consent may contact us for investigation and deletion. We handle such requests under applicable law.
8. Policy updates
This page shows the policy version and effective date. Wording clarifications and changes to system interface names do not change processing purposes. If purposes, methods, data categories or recipients materially change, we update the policy, provide appropriate notice and obtain renewed consent where required by law.
